I’m a human being first and foremost, and I bring that authenticity into every session. My approach to therapy is relaxed and real—I’m someone who swears, and I’m not afraid to let my personality show. I encourage you to do the same. If swearing is part of how you express yourself, go for it! Therapy should be a space where you can show up exactly as you are, without feeling the need to hold back.
In terms of my therapeutic lens, I combine elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you identify and reframe negative thought patterns, Internal Family Systems (IFS) to explore the different parts of yourself, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to work on accepting and moving forward from difficult emotions, and Trauma-Informed Care to ensure you feel safe and supported while processing past experiences. I also draw from Narrative Processing Therapy to help you re-author your story, Mindfulness to bring attention to the present moment, and Self-Compassion to foster kindness towards yourself as you navigate challenges.
I take a down-to-earth approach, creating a space where you can feel comfortable and fully yourself, without pressure to be anything other than authentic. Whether you need to eat during a session, take a break for the restroom, or tend to pets or kids, that’s perfectly fine—life happens! I believe a relaxed atmosphere helps build a genuine connection, and I often talk about my own life and story when it feels relevant, sharing parts of my own journey to normalize your experiences or offer a new perspective. My goal is to create a collaborative, supportive relationship where we can work together on your healing journey!
As a queer therapist, I use my own lived experience to inform my work because I believe it’s important for queer individuals to receive mental health support from someone who understands their unique struggles from a personal perspective. I’ve walked many of the paths my clients are navigating, and this lived experience allows me to connect with my clients in a meaningful way. My understanding of queer identity, its nuances, and the challenges that can come with it is something I bring into the therapy room to create a space where you can feel seen and understood.
I’ve worked with a diverse range of clients, particularly in the LGBTQIA+ community, addressing issues like anxiety, depression, complex trauma, and identity struggles. I’ve helped clients work through difficult family dynamics, boundary-setting, and self-advocacy, all while fostering self-compassion. I’m also in the process of training in Ketamine-Assisted Therapy (KAT), which I believe has powerful potential for clients who are healing from deep trauma or PTSD.
At the core of my work is a deep commitment to authenticity, self-love, and self-advocacy. I believe that the most profound healing happens when you can fully embrace who you are and advocate for yourself with the same care you’d show to someone you love. I help my clients explore how they can step into their truth, set boundaries, and treat themselves with the compassion they deserve.
Direct and compassionate communication is key in how we relate to others, and I support clients in developing the skills to communicate honestly while maintaining kindness and respect for both themselves and others. Equally important is being honest with yourself—about your feelings, needs, and the stories you tell yourself about your challenges. We’ll work together to examine those narratives and reframe them in ways that foster growth and empowerment.
A central theme in our work will be developing an awareness of what is and isn’t within your control. This understanding is essential in reducing unnecessary stress and focusing your energy on the things that truly matter. By acknowledging the boundaries of control, we can cultivate acceptance and direct our efforts toward meaningful, achievable change.
